The Gray Scholarship ($5,000) is awarded by the MA LGBTQ Bar Association to a student who has made significant contributions to the the LGBTQ community. 

 To be eligible to receive the Alexander G. Gray, Jr., Scholarship Award, a candidate must:

  1. Be enrolled as a second-, third-, or fourth-year law student, or the part-time equivalent, during the 2024-2025 academic year and be in good standing at a law school in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
  1. Attest that you have spent at least $5,000 for financial costs directly related to enrollment in law school; and
  1. Be a current student member of the Mass. LGBTQ Bar Association, or, if not already a member, apply for student membership.  There is no cost for student membership.  Membership applications must be submitted separately online at www.masslgbtqbar.org.

Applicants for the Alexander G. Gray, Jr., Scholarship Award must submit the following:

  1. Completed Application
  1. One letter of recommendation written by a person not related to the candidate, preferably a professor, employer, or work colleague, that addresses the candidate’s eligibility for the Gray Scholarship, including community service, leadership, maturity and responsibility, as well as other qualifications to receive the award;
  1. Law school transcript (unofficial is acceptable); and
  1. Resume or CV.

All of the above required materials must be submitted in PDF format as an email attachment to [email protected] by April 11, 2025, 11:59 P.M.
