On June 6, 2024, the Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar is hosting it's annual Garden Party from 6-9PM at Legacy Nightclub. Join us for Disco Garden Party as we head underground to honor the legacy of clubs as safe spaces where queer authenticity and drag performances are celebrated. You can purchase tickets here. Make sure that you are signed into your Massachusetts LGBTQ Bar online account to get discounted and student tickets.
If your firm or organization is interested in sponsoring or advertising at this great event, you can still do so here.
Garden Party this year is a celebration of visibility and a call to action. We are honoring Retired Judge Mark Mason with the Kevin Larkin Memorial Award for Public Service and he will be providing the keynote address. Only six out gay men have sat on the bench in Massachusetts since 1989, when Dermot Meagher became the first. Judge Mason will speak on the importance of LGBTQ visibility on the bench.
We will also hear from Senator Will Brownsberger our Legislator of Distinction who bravely came out as bisexual last Pride. With the persistent legislative attacks across the country against our community and bisexual erasure in and outside of the LGBTQ community affecting a large part of our community, Senator Brownsberger's visibility is appreciated.
Finally we will hear from a champion of LGBTQ probate and family law. Polly Crozier, our Gwen Bloomingdale Pioneer Spirit award winner has engaged in cutting-edge trial court and appellate litigation involving assisted reproduction and parentage. More recently with GLAD, Attorney Crozier has successfully worked to help pass statutory family law reforms in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, as well as health care provider shield laws in Massachusetts and Vermont. We all thank Attorney Crozier for her efforts to pass the Massachusetts Parentage Act. If you are not writing your legislators about this one there is still time.
In addition to our speakers we will give out the Alexander Gray Jr. Scholarship in the new and improved amount of $5,000. To donate to the scholarship fund click here. We will also have drag performances and have hired award winning queer DJ COLESLAW to help us celebrate.
